The Frontenac Community Arena invites applications for the seasonal position of Arena Monitor

 

PARTICULARS OF THE POSITION

This is a seasonal position beginning Sunday September 22nd and ending in March 2020 Approximately 200 total hours for the season.

Hours of Work

The position is from 10:00 am to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays and additional days as required. 

Rate of Pay

Minimum wage+ 4% in lieu of vacation.

POSTING DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY                                        

Under the direction of the Arena Manager or delegate, the Arena Monitor supports the Arena Attendants in maintaining a clean and safe environment for the visitors of the Frontenac Community Arena. The Arena Monitor is also responsible for the enforcement of Public Skating Rules during the Noon-1:30PM Public Skate. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS WORK

Consists of light to moderate lifting over 10 kg, climbing, walking, twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, working in awkward positions, and working in all types of weather conditions. Skating for the duration of the Public Skate program.

TYPICAL DUTIES OR WORK PERFORMED

  • Foster a welcoming, respectful and safe environment for all participants

  • Establish positive relationships and clear communication channels with all staff and participants

  • Maintain a safe and clean facility, including proper usage and storage of equipment.

  • Perform custodial duties, general maintenance and repair tasks throughout the facility.

  • Follow and prioritize duties as listed in the Arena Monitor daily task list.

  • Provide quality customer service to a wide variety of arena facility users by answering questions, providing assistance with concerns and directing the customers to the correct person.

  • Monitor the actions of groups and individuals using the arena facilities, i.e. public awareness of bylaws and regulations.

  • Perform manual duties, including, but not limited to, snow removal, moving tables, chairs, etc.

  • Work in an independent capacity and/or group environment.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 15 years of age

  • Standard First Aid & CPR C is an asset

  • Competent skating ability is required

  • Experience playing (at an organized level) or officiating hockey is preferred
